Day 4. 7 Hours. Moderate but long.
You can start the with a smile knowing that from today you are actually going to start descending! For the morning though, the trail Climbs slightly through rugged terrain passing 3 more lakes. You will then reach the peak of your journey - the pass of Laurebina La which gives outstanding views in both directions. From here you begin your descent, passing through a remote settlement, bamboo scrub and forests on a rough trail to Gote. In the evening you can look out into the night and see the effervescant glow of Kathmandu behind the hills.
Day 5. 2.5 Hours. Easy.
This is an easy day to compensate for the previous day, and next days long treks. The path rises and falls over many large bould of old glacial morains and across ravines.
Day 6. 6 Hours. Moderate - easy
The trail continues up and down through forests, crossing streams and flowery meadows to an army checkpoint. From here you will ascend to herding country where there are many Goths and you may be able to buy fresh milk or curd. From here you will desscend through fir and rhododendron forests and down the Yurin Danda Ridge with great views of snowy peaks. You leave the Langtang National Park at a checkpoint in Khutumsong and continue down the ridge to the quaint hill village of Gul Bhanjyang which has a large chorten.
Day 7. 6 Hours. Moderate.
You start the day climbing to a large chorten overlooking Gul Bhanjyang and then across a forested ridge to an elongated settlement called Thong Betini. You will ascend further through forests and along a ridge with good mountain views before descending into the Malemchi Valley and onwards to Pati Banjyang. The trail then rises through meadows and fields to Chisopani which has spactacular views of the Himalaya.
Day 8. 6 Hours. Easy.
You begin the day early, trekking through oak and rhododendron forests to a ridge where there are exquisite morning views, with the sun rise shining on the Himalaya from Annapurna to Everest. Afterwards you will descend to the protected Shivapuri watershed and wildlife reserve and on to the Tamang settlement of Mulkharka with a fantastic panoramic view of the Kathmandu valley. You will continue down Shivapuri ridge to a large damn and hydroelectric plant which supplies much of Kathmandu’s drinking water, and on to Sunderijal from where you will be transported back to Kathmandu.
